Total time : 45 min
puff pastry
1,5 grated cheddar
3 granny smith apples
1 brown sugar
10,25 flour
1 oats
0,5 butter, diced
1 egg yolk, beaten
vanilla ice cream, for garnish
Step 1/3
Sprinkle one sheet of puff pastry with grated cheddar cheese. Cover with a second sheet of puff pastry and roll with a rolling pin to flatten slightly. Turn a small bowl upside down on top of the pastry and use to cut a circle from the pastry. Repeat for 2 more circles. Using the excess dough, cut out 3 leaf shapes and set aside.
Step 2/3
Cut the tops from the apples, remove the core and discard. Hollow the apple and set the pieces aside. Place an empty apple on top of a pastry disc and fold the pastry up towards the top of the apple. Press the dough against the apple firmly to make sure that it adheres.
Step 3/3
In a bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oats, butter and apple pieces to create a crumble. Fill each apple with the crumble and sprinkle the tops with a grated cheddar (optional). Place one leaf on each apple and brush the entire apple and leaf with the egg yolk. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 °F. Top each apple with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy.
