Ingredients for 8 people

4 green apples, peeled and cored

1 plus 1 0.25 cup flour, divided

2 baking powder

2 plus 2 tbsp sugar, divided

3 eggs, divided

0,5 milk

2 lemon juice

0,5 plus 1 0.33 cups powdered sugar, divided

0,25 plus 3-6 tbsp water, divided

2 sticks of butter, divided

0,25 cocoa powder

1 vanilla extract

1 heavy cream

0,25 corn syrup

sea salt

3 melted chocolate

maraschino cherries

vegetable oil

Step 1/3

Slice apples crosswise creating rings. Mix together 1 cup flour, 2 tbsp sugar, baking powder, 2 eggs, milk, and lemon juice to make a batter. Dip the apple rings in the batter then fry in hot oil until golden brown. Make a glaze by combining 1 1/3 cups of powdered sugar with 3-6 tbsp of water. Pour glaze over fritters covering completely.

Make a chocolate crust by mixing 1 stick of butter with the reMayning powdered sugar. Then mix in the vanilla extract and reMayning egg. Once mixed, add in reMayning flour and cocoa powder. Using your hands, press the dough into a lined pie plate. Bake for 1 hour at 350 °F.

Step 3/3

In a small sauce pan, bring to boil the corn syrup and reMayning sugar and water. Once the caramel starts to turn brown, mix in 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Add a pinch of salt and mix in the reMayning butter. Pour caramel into chocolate crust. Mix together melted chocolate and reMayning cream then spread over caramel. Arrange the fritters on top of the pie. Decorate with cherries and a dusting of powdered sugar. Cut yourself a slice and enjoy!
