Ingredients for 4 people

1 package of yeast

3 cups of flour

1/4 cup of sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup of butter, softened

5 eggs

2/3 cup of cornstarch

1 cup of milk

1/2 cup of heavy cream

2 cups of maple syrup

15 slices of bacon

1 cup of milk chocolate, melted

sprinkles


Tools

Kitchen towel

Empty water bottle

Rolling pin

Plastic wrap

Piping bag


Step 1/5

In a bowl, combine the milk and yeast. Add the flour, sugar, salt, butter and egg. Knead the dough with your hands, cover with a clean kitchen towel and set aside to let the dough rise for 1 hour. Punch down the dough to remove some of the air. Chill for 30 minutes.

Step 2/5

Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll into a rectangle. Bake for 40 minutes at 350 °F.

In a bowl, whisk 4 eggs with cornstarch. set aside. In a pan, heat the milk, heavy cream, maple syrup until it boils. Add the egg mixture and whisk until thickened. Pour into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes. Place in a piping bag.

Step 4/5

Arrange 5 slices of bacon on a sheet of parchment paper. Place a 6th strip across the middle of the 5 slices and place 4 slices between the 5 bottom slices. Create the basketweave by lifting every other strip on one half and placing another strip of bacon on top of the remaining strips. Place the strips previously folded up back down and fold up the alternating strips up and place another slice of bacon on top. Repeat these steps for both halves. Place the donut on top of the bacon and fold over to cover it in bacon. Bake for 15 minutes at 350° F.

Step 5/5

Cut the top and bottom off of the water bottle. Cut down the center and roll into a tube and secure the ends with tape. Push the tube into the center of the donut to make a hole. Fill the hole with the cream. Cover with melted chocolate and finish by adding assorted sprinkles on top of the chocolate.
